We seek a friendly, detail-oriented Senior Director of Research and Analysis , with experience in applied education or public health research and evaluation. This cross-functional role blends relationship management, technical expertise, consulting savvy, and strategic initiative. The Senior Director manages workflows and teams involved in client projects and business development; mentors scientific staff; coordinates team plans; tracks deliverables and budgets; and cultivates key client relationships. As a member of the senior team, you share responsibility for strategic planning, operations, and new business. About the Position Roles and Responsibilities Lead teams for public health consulting and evaluation projects Innovate on processes, projects and research plans Collaborate with the senior team to develop and implement ideas for team growth Ensure quality of work products and client communications Build strong client partnerships via warm and responsive communications Deliver client results and presentations with poise and clarity Collaborate with technical leads to align client needs and firm capabilities Track progress against deliverables and budgets; flag risks and help identify mitigation strategies Develop and coordinate scopes of work, progress reports, and other client-facing deliverables Consider and assess data sharing agreements, contracts, MOUs, and IRB (Human Subjects) requirements Collaborate and/or lead new proposals, including RFP/RFQ responses and LOIs for public health and social sector clients Manage stakeholder and partner engagement Engage with fellow senior team members on strategic directions for the firm Experience you bring to our team PhD (preferred) in sociology, economics, psychology, public health, or related social science including educational research (or MA with strong experience) Broad experience in research and evaluation consulting for public agencies, philanthropic and nonprofit organizations and partners At least 10 years of professional experience in a position with significant technical and project management duties At least 7+ years in a managerial role of technical teams in applied research settings Proven track record of successful delivery of scientific products and projects History of excellent written materials and communications to a variety of stakeholder audiences Demonstrated ability to estimate, develop, and manage scope for research partners Skills Needed Leadership in staff development and project management Expertise in various scientific research designs and analysis for causal inference, including:
- data analytics and statistical concepts
- program evaluations and observational studies
- research plans on policy and program questions
- statistical programming (Stata expertise preferred) Ability to foster a positive and inclusive work environment Consulting, communication, and presentation skills Strong socioemotional ability, including empathy and active listening skills Conceptual skills, including creative thinking, strategic planning, and explaining abstract concepts Critical thinking and logical organization of ideas Strong ability to present to non-technical audiences Talent in helping stakeholders connect data to policy decisions Experience with client/partner management and new business development Proficiency in grant/proposal development Experience in executing continuous improvement efforts Capacity to handle situations with a client-centric perspective Compensation Starting salary is $132k-164k/year (based on experience) with a structured bonus plan based on company performance.

Work Location We are a remote-first company with downtown offices available for those that live in Austin TX. Our team mostly works remotely, with Austin staff gathering a few times each month to collaborate. Local staff are provided with high-end ergonomic sit/stand workstations and can choose to work in-office more frequently as desired. Our modern offices include a fitness center with showers for walking/running/biking to work. This role may require occasional travel to client site meetings; and staff who do not live in the Austin area can expect to travel for team planning meetings 1-4 times a year.
