Job Description
Accountability:
Reports to the Director for Workforce Development Grantsand Programs.Primary Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director for Workforce Development Grantsand Programs (ADWD) will lead the strategy, development and delivery ofcontract training programs designed to meet the workforce needs ofemployers/businesses and industry partners. This role drives revenue growth, strengthens employer relationships, andensures high quality, responsive training solutions that align with the missionof NEIT. The ADWD will be responsiblefor employer engagement to establish additional training programs within NEIT'sCenter for Technology and Industry (CTI) training programs as well asmaintaining relations with current clients. The ADWD will work collaborativelywith NEIT's academic departments, faculty and external stakeholders to designprograms, oversee and monitor the operational execution of contract trainingprograms.SecondaryResponsibilities :
Assist the Director for WorkforceGrants and Programs in the management and operation of NEIT's Shipbuilding andAdvanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) as assigned. SAMI is primarily responsible for deliveringtraining to Electric Boat new hires in multiple trades including welding, shipfittingand machining as well as other grant funded training programs. Supervision Exercised Asassigned by the Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Relationsand the Director of Workforce Grants and Programs for the Shipbuilding andAdvanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI). Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for customized andcontract training that supports NEIT's mission as well as workforce priorities
- Identify emerging industry trends and translate them into new trainingofferings, credentials and workforce solutions
- Conduct needs assessments with employers/businesses to design customizedtraining programs that address skill gaps and future workforce needs
- Ensure all training programs meet quality standards, industryexpectations and align with academic standards and CTI protocols Employer and Community Engagement
- Build andmaintain strong relationships with employers/businesses, industry partnerships,workforce boards, and other workforce intermediaries
- Serve asthe primary point of contact for customized training inquiries and partnerships
- RepresentNEIT and CTI at industry events, community events, advisory boards andworkforce development organizations to promote training services Operational responsibilities
- Oversee theplanning, scheduling and delivery of customized training programs includingcoordination with various academic departments and faculty, instructorassignments, and facilitate curriculum development to address workforce needsand skill gaps
- Developcontracts, proposals and pricing models in accordance with CTI protocols
- Ensureaccurate tracking of training activities, outcomes and client satisfaction
- Coordinatewith internal departments to support budgeting, billing, reporting andcompliance
- Contributeto grant funding opportunities, grant development, management, fiscal andoperational reporting as required Operational responsibilities -Shipbuilding and Advanced Manufacturing Institute
- Assist in theadministrative management and operation of the Electric Boat training programs
- Work incollaboration with NEIT instructional training staff, program coordinators aswell as Electric Boat partners to implement, deliver and continually improvecomponents of training with a focus on safety and quality Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities andQualifications Individualsmust possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain anddemonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of theposition with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combinationof skills and abilities.
- Bachelor's Degree inbusiness, education, workforce development or a related field
- Several yearsexperience in workforce development, education and training or related field
- Demonstrated success inbusiness development, client relationship and/or program management
- Strong communication,negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to managemultiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to establishand maintain positive working relationships across a broad spectrum ofstakeholders Preferred
- Workforce Developmentexperience in a technical or community college setting
- Experience working orpartnering with industry or industry partnerships
- Knowledge ofstate/federal workforce training programs, grants and funding mechanisms WorkEnvironment Thisposition typically operates in a professional work and training environmentwith occasional travelto employer sites, training locations and industry meetings.
