PRIMARY PURPOSE
To assure that no student enrolled in the district attains less than full advantage from his educational opportunities as a result attendance problems. To assist district principals, assistant principals, counselors, and Campus Student Success Specialists with students who have been identified with attendance or truancy problems.

Bachelor's Degree
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGESKILLS
Knowledge state law, Board policy, and administrative regulations regarding attendance Knowledge school district organization, operations, and administrative policies Ability to work with judicial system and their staff, and the Goose Creek CISD Police Department Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to operate computer Knowledge Referral Agencies and Social Service Agencies
EXPERIENCE
Three years experience in education Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
. Enforce the Compulsory School Attendance Law. . Maintain a professional awareness regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge state law, Board policy, and administrative regulations. . Conduct audits enrollment, attendance, and transfer records in the schools as may be necessary to assure compliance with state law and local policy. . Serve as liaison between the schools and the parents, the courts, community agencies, and police authorities. . Work diligently to reduce the dropout rate and investigate students who have been identified as a "no-show" for current school year. . Work with counselors in the identification and counseling potential dropouts. . Move about the community during school hours and provide immediate service to students who are on the street or in public places . Serve as liaison between the family court and the school system in cases where students have been delinquent outside school. . Work closely with teachers, school nurses, counselors, assistant principals, and principals regarding students who are tardy, andor absent too frequently. Attendance Specialist Job Description . Submit Probable Causes or Complaint Affidavits unexcused absences to the Justice the Peace Court or Municipal Court. . Represent the district as a witness in all cases unexcused absences filed in the Justice the Peace Court or Municipal Court. . Maintain consistent communication with school administration and other personnel involved with the attendance referral. . Accept referrals concerning attendance problems from district personnel. . Maintain all necessary records regarding Court Referrals, Court Warnings, Truancy Requests, Home Schoolers, and Street Pickups into Master Data List. . Make home visits as required. . Perform any other duties as assigned.
