Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the council's footprint includes the Dallas metro area and surrounding communities. The Director of Support Service serves as the council's chief program executive, working closely with the Deputy Scout Executive, Scout Executive, and Executive Board. This position is responsible for developing and administering the council's program and camping business strategies. The Director leads a team responsible for advancing training, advancement, activities, camping, and property utilization, while also advising council-level committees on strategies to grow the movement, enhance the Circle Ten experience, and diversify council revenue. As one of the premier councils in Scouting America, the Circle Ten Council has made significant investments in its property portfolio over the past 25 years and is now launching a $100 million capital campaign to further develop and endow council properties. The council's program department brings several key strengths and resources that support the successful execution of the Director of Support Service's core responsibilities: Modern, state-of-the-art Scouting facilities Dedicated endowment support for property maintenance and capital improvements A highly engaged and accountable team of council volunteers and Board members Experienced and knowledgeable staff Capitalizing on these strengths and resources, the Director of Support Service's primary responsibility is to ensure the delivery of safe, innovative, and engaging Scouting programs to a growing number of Scouts and participants while maximizing revenue generation to support the council's overall operating budget. In support of this charge, the position includes the following specific responsibilities: Cultivate, recruit, direct, and support council-level volunteers to achieve the council's property, program, and related business strategies and annual objectives, including year-round property utilization, camping, activities, training, advancement, and property management. Lead the effective staffing, organization, development, and execution of the council's program department. Assess and deploy staff resources strategically to align with and accomplish the council's strategic objectives. Oversee the successful execution of growth objectives outlined in the council's strategic plan, including the planning, scheduling, and implementation of capital improvement projects and resource optimization initiatives designed to deliver innovative programs and modern facilities that better serve current members and support membership growth. Lead and manage the camp ranger staff by establishing and coordinating year-round maintenance schedules for properties, facilities, and equipment. Develop and secure approval for, and implement camp policies and procedures that uphold standards for property management, facility operations, leadership, health and safety, and revenue growth in alignment with Council directives, Scouting America guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Grow external revenue sources through community organization use and sponsorships. Foster a culture of constant innovation in our programming offerings Develop, monitor, and control the camping and activities budget to contribute net excess revenue for the council's operating budget. Serve as a member of the council's staff senior leadership team. Assume all other duties as assigned. There are some needs and concerns that this position will need to address directly and strategically to ensure the council is successful and sustainable in delivering the mission going forward: Low adoption rate of in-council Scouts BSA troops attending resident camp Shortage of volunteer manpower to support the expanding program opportunities offered Stagnant participation at Cub and Webelos Resident Camp Develop and implement year-round utilization of council properties. Escalating costs in occupancy, food service, and maintenance due to inflationary pressures Bachelor's Degree (required) Significant staff leadership experience (required) Proven track record of revenue generation, innovation, and growth (required) Camp Director experience (preferred) Leadership experience in a Metro council (preferred) Successful experience in program and property administration Fiscal management and budget development experience Volunteer recruiting experience Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders Organizational skills and proven ability to work with minimal supervision All councils are equal opportunity employers and offer a competitive salary, based on the council's geographic location. Salary Range:
This position has a base starting salary range of $100,000 - $150,000 with annual bonus potential.
