  • Posting may close at any time) Job Summary The Threat Response Manager will serve as a key member of the Department of Public Safety's Threat Assessment and Management Team (TAM-T) reporting to the Director of TAM-T.
This position will work closely with campus stakeholders, ing professional judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to complex situations involving potential threats, safety concerns, and individuals in crisis. The incumbent will conduct investigations and gather information in identifying, assessing, and managing individuals who may pose threat to the university or a public safety concern to the campus community, including reviewing referrals, conducting interviews, analyzing findings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary partners to inform assessment and management strategies. This position will support event security to include both risk and threat assessment of events, and will also support active threat training throughout campus. Safety is a top priority for the University of Utah. The Chief Safety Officer (CSO) for the University is the Director of Public Safety and serves as chief of police services. The CSO is responsible for overseeing the University's Department of Public Safety, which includes the following operational divisions: University Police, Campus Security, Health Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, and the central administrative Office of the CSO. More at publicsafety.utah . Responsibilities 1. Conduct fact-finding investigations to support the Threat Assessment and Management Team (TAM-T) in identifying, assessing, and managing potential threats to campus safety. 2. Gather and evaluate information through interviews, records reviews, open-source intelligence, and collaboration with internal and external partners. 3. Prepare investigative reports, timelines, and case documentation for review by the multidisciplinary team. 4. Provide input into case assessments and management plans, ensuring information is thorough, accurate, and actionable. 5. Support event security assessments and active threat training coordination throughout campus. 6. Document and communicate findings in clear, professional reports while maintianing sensitivity to individuals' lived experiences. 7. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM). Work closely with campus stakeholders, including law enforcement, human resources, student affairs, and Office of Equal Opportunity and Threat Assessment to share findings and inform decisions. 8. Support the development of best practices, policies, and standard operating procedures within TAM-T. 9. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with institutional policies and applicable laws. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. ground knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
