Job Description
General Description The purpose of this position is to manage all functions and personnel of the Public Works Department including, but not limited to the day-to-day maintenance of the Town's infrastructure services such as sewer maintenance and facility operation, sanitation, street maintenance, city storm and sanitary sewer operations, and emergency response for snow and ice, flood, severe weather mitigation. This position reports to the Town Manager. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Essential Duties Oversee and manage all Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for the Town. Create and plan long-term programs that will develop the growth of the Town. Provide professional construction management for a variety of public works and construction projects. Oversee design consultant contracts and projects through all phases of development and construction. Develop preliminary and final designs and cost estimates. Managing project budgets. Attend and facilitate planning and design meetings with engineers, contractors, architects, and developers. Perform construction reviews for compliance with building codes and regulations. Review construction documents and respond to permitting and code questions. Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of Town-owned roads, parks, facilities, and fleet. Monitors maintenance and repair of Town's grounds, buildings, streets, parks, and facilities. Manage the Public Works building inspection functions of the organization. Manages the solid waste contract for the Town. Analyze and assesses proposals from the public works staff and presents the top plans to designated department heads for consideration.
