The Opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Financial Services, you serve as the principal fiscal officer and financial analyst for Student Financial Services (SFS). You exercise independent judgment and professional discretion in managing the fiscal operations, regulatory compliance, and institutional risk mitigation of more than $350 million in annual student financial aid and support funding. In this role, you analyze, forecast, and oversee complex state, federal, and external funding programs, interpret and apply regulatory requirements, and determine appropriate fiscal actions to ensure responsible stewardship of university resources. Your authoritative fiscal analysis and recommendations directly shape leadership decisions related to funding allocation, cash management, program sustainability, and compliance strategy. You act as the primary fiscal advisor to SFS administration, independently assess fiscal and compliance risk, determine funding drawdown strategies, oversee reconciliation and internal controls, and represent the department in audits and external reporting. Your work is primarily analytical, consultative, and strategic; transactional activities are incidental to higher-level fiscal oversight and decision-support responsibilities. You operate under delegated authority from SFS leadership to independently carry out fiscal actions and determinations essential to maintaining compliance, ensuring liquidity, and mitigating institutional risk.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$5,137 to $6,906 | Range 55 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with
WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience. Demonstrated experience with data analysis tools. Intermediate to advanced competency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including using advanced Excel functions. Experience working with executive level staff. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional level accounting experience in a non-profit, research, government, or higher education institution. Experience with organizational strategic planning. Skilled at presenting information, making recommendations, and leading relevant discussions based on fiscal knowledge and analytical findings. Demonstrated experience and/or education working with enterprise-wide systems such as Workday PeopleSoft Student Administration. Experience processing Electronic files with the US Department of Education via Common Origination and Disbursement ( COD ) system. Experience awarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid to students. Experience auditing, analyzing, and correcting reconciliation errors.
