Director, Graduate Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Marquette University - 4.2 Milwaukee, WI Job Details Full-time 14 hours ago Qualifications Change management Doctor of Dentistry Orthodontics Full Job Description Marquette University School of Dentistry, Wisconsin's only dental school, seeks a thoughtful and strategic leader to serve as Director of the Graduate Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. The program is entering a new phase of maturity following recent efforts to strengthen curriculum, operations, and alignment with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards. The next Director will build on this strong foundation—ensuring continued excellence, stability, and compliance—while advancing deliberate, evidence-based innovation in orthodontic education and clinical training. This is a senior faculty leadership role for an individual who can balance operational discipline with forward-looking program development , and who is capable of leading meaningful change without disrupting a well-functioning system. Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Program Leadership and Administration Provide overall leadership, direction, and accountability for the orthodontic residency program Sustain and strengthen recent improvements in program structure, operations, and CODA alignment Oversee faculty assignments, mentoring, evaluation, and development Manage program resources, including budgeting, staffing, and long-term planning Foster a collaborative, stable, and high-performing culture among faculty, residents, and staff Foster communication and continue networking with the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists (WSO) Education and Curriculum Lead the ongoing refinement of the didactic, clinical, and simulation curriculum Ensure consistency, rigor, and excellence in resident education and competency assessment Introduce curricular innovation in a deliberate, outcomes-driven manner that builds on existing strengths Evaluate and prioritize new educational initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with accreditation standards Clinical Oversight Ensure high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care within orthodontic clinics Supervise and support residents and faculty in clinical education Strengthen clinical training relevance while maintaining consistency and program integrity Scholarly Activity and Research Maintain the program's strong culture of scholarship and resident research Oversee successful completion of master's degree requirements Support continued scholarly productivity among residents and faculty Accreditation and Continuous Improvement Ensure full and sustained compliance with CODA standards Lead program assessment, outcomes tracking, and continuous quality improvement Prepare for and manage accreditation processes and site visits Institutional Engagement Collaborate with school leadership on strategic priorities and program development Contribute to interdisciplinary education and institutional initiatives Represent the program within the institution and in national professional organizations Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities DDS/DMD or equivalent dental degree Completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification, or eligibility with certification expected within a defined timeframe Eligibility for dental licensure in the State of Wisconsin Demonstrated experience in teaching, clinical supervision, or academic leadership Demonstrated ability to lead programmatic improvement or change within an established academic or clinical environment Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or equivalent) Prior experience in a leadership role within a CODA-accredited residency program Record of scholarly activity, including publications and/or funded research Experience in curriculum development and innovation Demonstrated success in faculty mentorship and development Experience managing program operations, including budgeting and resource allocation Department Dental School Posting Date 05/11/2026 Closing Date Special Instructions to Applicants EOE Statement It is the policy of Marquette University to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other applicable federal or state-protected classification.
