Job Summary
Job Summary Concord University is actively seeking a Director of Clinical Education for the new Physician Assistant Program.
The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) position is a full-time, twelve-month faculty position with academic rank based upon the appointee's academic and experiential qualifications.
The DCE is responsible for the overall development and oversight of supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs) to ensure students receive the clinical experiences and clinical year didactic instruction required to meet the program's learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
The DCE will lead the program's self-assessment of the clinical year to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the program in meeting learning outcomes, program competencies, and program goals.
As a program faculty member, the DCE will also provide didactic classroom and lab instruction based upon areas of interest, experience, and program need. The DCE will participate in program admissions, evaluate student performance, counsel students, and evaluate the curriculum and program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility Provide administrative leadership for operations related to supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPE).
Identify, evaluate, and monitor clinical sites to ensure the clinical site and preceptor meet the requirements to provide SCPEs that will allow students to meet program defined learning outcomes in a safe environment.
Secure and maintain affiliation agreements.
Oversee coordination of the clinical year, including development and maintenance of the clinical rotation schedule for SCPEs and return to campus visits.
Orient preceptors and staff members at clinical sites to learning outcomes and expectations for the SCPE.
Coordinate interprofessional activities for the clinical year curriculum.
Provide both didactic and clinical year classroom and lab instruction, providing remedial instruction when necessary and according to program policies.
Participate in the development and periodic review and revision of the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program.
Serve on the program's Admission Committee and participate in the selection of applicants for admission to the PA Program.
Evaluate student performance in the didactic and clinical year.
Provide academic counseling to students.
Participate in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program's curriculum.
Direct the clinical year self-assessment process and perform regular evaluations of the program as required.
Assist with student recruitment and retention.
Demonstrate commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service.
Serve on department, college, and university committees.
Participate in relevant professional development.
Support the mission of Concord University.

Education/Knowledge
Minimum Education Master's
Required Licenses/Certification Graduate level degree, Master's acceptable but doctorate preferred.
Physician assistant with current NCCPA certification.
Required Skills Two years or more of clinical experience.
Experience in teaching and curriculum development preferred.
Prior experience preparing for and participating in an accreditation process preferred.
Documented expertise in the academic subject area and demonstrated expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present in public
Ability to problem-solve and extinguish problematic areas within the program
Ability to prioritize and organize; multitask
Strong computer skills
Ability to utilize short
- and long-term planning of program activities
