STARTING PAY
$17.00•19.00/HR (dependent on experience) We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Purchasing Assistant. In this role, the Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the procurement of goods and services necessary to support ongoing production operations, including managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The primary objective of the Purchasing Assistant is to help ensure that finished products are delivered to customers on time, while meeting company quality standards and supporting continuous operational improvements. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail. They will be dependable, self-motivated, and possess effective communication skills. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Supervisor. Training will be provided.
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
Assist in the procurement of goods, materials, and services required to support company operations and production equipment. Assist in managing purchasing activities throughout the procurement cycle, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotations, securing approvals, issuing purchase orders, and monitoring delivery schedules. Assist in researching market pricing, evaluate supplier proposals, and obtain competitive bids to support cost-effective purchasing decisions. Assist in coordinating with the Planning, Production, and Shipping departments to align internal schedules with supplier lead times and delivery commitments, ensuring uninterrupted operations and on-time customer deliveries. Work closely with Shipping/Receiving to investigate and resolve supplier shipment discrepancies, shortages, and quality issues. Other purchasing related tasks and responsibilities, as needed.
Education and work experience:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent At least one year of experience in the same or similar role preferred Knowledge and skills: Organizational skills Communication skills Time management skills Problem-solving skills Physical demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a keyboard.
