Overview The Purchasing Assistant purchases goods and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. In addition, they will perform administrative and clerical duties for the purchasing department.
Essential Job Functions:
Purchase goods and services according to the company's policies and procedures. Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history. Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions. Provide administrative and clerical support to the department. Type reports, purchase orders. Research vendors and collect prices, specifications, and other data related to goods and services. Perform other duties as assigned. Collateral Duties Answer phones. Assist colleagues as needed. Attend staff and other scheduled business meetings. Perform other tasks and special projects as needed.Qualifications:

Proven negotiation skills. Ability to learn purchasing procedures and policies. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers. Excellent time management stills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 or related software.Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or other industry-related field experience required. 12+ years or more of related (purchasing or electrical material handling ) experience.Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Regularly ascending or descending sets of stairs or ramps, when other means of movement are not available. Must have minimal ability to stand, sit, stoop, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach lift, balance, carry, push, and pull as required for light duties of standard office. Exposure to air-conditioned/heated office environment.Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:
