This role supports continued expansion and will report directly to the Vice President of Purchasing. This is an opportunity for a strong purchasing professional to step into a high-impact role with a builder that values cost discipline, trade partner relationships, and operational execution. Local candidates with residential homebuilding experience are required.

Partner closely with the Vice President of Purchasing on day-to-day execution and operational priorities. Work alongside construction, estimating, and design teams daily. Strong opportunity to grow within an expanding builder in a competitive market. Assistant Purchasing Manager Objectives Support day-to-day purchasing activities across multiple residential construction projects, including bid review, leveling, and buyout coordination. Prepare accurate takeoffs for new communities and product lines to support budgeting and trade partner negotiations. Analyze plans, specifications, and scopes to ensure complete and accurate procurement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure consistent execution. Assist with pricing negotiations, contract management, and value engineering initiatives. Support bidding, contracting, and community buyout processes for new starts and product rollouts. Generate and manage purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders within the purchasing system. Partner with construction, estimating, and design teams to align budgets, scopes, and schedules. Identify process inefficiencies, product waste, and cost leakage across projects. Analyze, audit, and maintain house cost budgets to ensure alignment with company targets. Support the development and enforcement of scopes of work, specifications, and option programs. Resolve trade partner, vendor, and supply chain issues to avoid construction delays. Ensure compliance with company standards, contracts, and regulatory requirements. Support reporting, audits, and documentation to maintain clean and accurate purchasing records. Assist with training and mentoring newer team members as needed. Assistant Purchasing Manager Qualifications 5+ years of purchasing, estimating, or procurement experience in residential homebuilding. Strong knowledge of construction materials, building codes, and subcontracting practices. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills. Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and cost awareness. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office products. Experience with ERP systems, purchasing platforms, or construction management software. Experience with HomeFront or BuildPro is preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
