Job Description

We are Brewer Sewing & Quilting Supply. A recognized leader in our industry for decades. We have an outstanding opportunity for a skilled Assistant Buyer to join our purchasing team. This is a full time, career oriented role working onsite at our headqurters located in Aurora, IL. Job Summary The Assistant Buyer supports purchasing and merchandising strategies by contributing to product selection, vendor coordination, and inventory management. This role involves analyzing sales trends, collaborating with suppliers, maintaining accurate product data, and ensuring timely product delivery to help achieve company sales, profitability, and inventory objectives. Essential Functions Enter vendor and new product information into the Company's ERP system and process changes to maintain data accuracy at all times, including product images. Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of product categories. Manage assigned product categories and develop an overall strategy to drive sales and achieve goals Define short and long-term goals aligned with the company's objectives. Conduct sales analysis for each category, including customer needs and trends. Identify growth opportunities. Collaborate with product development teams to enhance existing products and introduce new products to the category. Manage the product lifecycle, including product launches, updates, and discontinuations. Negotiate with vendors on pricing strategies and payment terms for products within the category. Provide support to the sales team Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance, to align strategies and achieve common objectives Track and analyze performance and data for the product category Use sales insights to refine product offerings Optimize inventory levels to prevent overstock and stockouts. Forecast future inventory needs by analyzing historical data, market trends, and customer demand patterns. Generate purchase orders and collaborate with suppliers to identify and address discrepancies. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to inventory, such as obsolescence or supply chain disruptions. Analyze inventory data, turnover rates, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction. Competencies Able to build strong working relationships with people at all organizational levels, including vendors. Strong business acumen and analytical skills. Problem-solving and analytical skills Communication proficiency, including the ability to converse in English on the phone and in email. Advanced computer skills are required, including proficiency in navigating screens, sending and receiving emails, advanced word processing and spreadsheet tasks, and report writing. Attention to detail Results-driven Able to Travel Expected Work Hours This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are scheduled for 7.50 hours paid per day with a 1-hour unpaid meal break. Travel This role may require occasional travel. Required education and experience Mcrosoft Office experience to include Word, Excel, and Outlook Experience working in a fast paced, high attention to detail work environment Preferred Education and experience Bachelor's Degree in Business Merchandising or Supply Chain or Equivalent Experience Work Authorization Must be authorized to work in the United States.
