Position Overview:

The Purchasing Associate plays a key role in supporting the supply chain and product assortment strategies of SLS Arts. This position goes beyond standard procurement tasks by contributing to vendor rebate management, promotional planning, and customer service performance. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to support both day-to-day operations and broader strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing & Inventory Management Place, track, and manage purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory levels Monitor vendor lead times, minimums, and terms to ensure cost-effective ordering Work closely with the warehouse & finance teams to resolve receiving discrepancies and delays Maintain high fill rates and product availability to support exceptional customer satisfaction Vendor Relations & Programs Coordinate vendor rebates and ensure accurate tracking, documentation, and collection Manage purchasing-driven vendor promotions in collaboration with sales team Evaluate new product lines and potential vendors in collaboration with leadership Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers Strategic Support & Special Projects Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimize stock levels Assist with product lifecycle management, including SKU rationalization and discontinuations Coordinate purchasing and logistics for university school kit programs, including custom packing and timelines Support special events, promotions, and seasonal campaigns requiring purchasing involvement

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred 10+ years of purchasing or inventory planning experience (fine art wholesale or retail preferred) Strong analytical and Excel skills; experience with ERP systems a plus Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
