The Buyer will perform administrative and clerical duties for the purchasing department. Our Legacy Howell Laboratories, Inc. has delivered mission-critical marine solutions for over six decades. Since becoming employee-owned in 1995, we have leveraged a culture of high productivity to develop cutting-edge air and water treatment systems for the US Navy and Coast Guard. From desiccant dehydrators to electrolytic disinfectant generators, we specialize in solving complex problems with custom-engineered technology built for the sea.

Provides administrative and clerical support to the department. Types reports, purchase orders, memoranda, and other documents. Research vendors and collect prices, specifications, and other data related to goods and services. Establishes and maintains a recordkeeping system for the purchasing department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
At least two years of clerical experience preferred.
Key Competencies:
Strong communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to learn purchasing procedures and policies. Ability to type 40 words per minute. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
