Experience:
3+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing or production environment required Our growing client in the Albany, NY area is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Operations Assistant to support procurement, inventory coordination, vendor management, and operational systems within a fast-paced production environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing purchasing responsibilities with operational support, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities of the Purchasing Operations Assistant will include: Manage purchasing activities for materials, supplies, consumables, and operational inventory Coordinate procurement activities based on production schedules, inventory levels, and operational needs Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors and suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, and discrepancies Maintain strong vendor relationships while supporting cost control and timely delivery objectives Process purchase orders, invoice coordination , and procurement-related documentation Monitor inventory levels , usage trends, and material shortages to support production continuity Assist with inventory reconciliation, cycle counts , and operational reporting activities Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and operational records within internal systems Support development and maintenance of SOPs , workflow documentation, and operational procedures Collaborate with production, warehouse, accounting, and leadership teams to support operational efficiency Assist with reporting, workflow coordination, and process improvement initiatives Support operational systems , documentation management, and technology-driven process enhancements Qualifications for the role of
Purchasing Operations Assistant:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred 3+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing, production, or operational environment required Experience with procurement, inventory coordination, and vendor management Strong Microsoft Excel skills including reporting, formulas, and data analysis Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications Experience working with inventory, purchasing, or ERP systems preferred Strong organizational, communication , and multitasking abilities High attention to detail and ability to manage priorities independently Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset Experience supporting SOPs , operational documentation, or workflow processes is a plus
