Job Description
MECHANICAL BUYER
JOBLOCATION
Walbridge, OH JOBCATEGORY
Purchasing This individual will be responsible for providing purchasing support for the Mechanical Department, as well as other company personnel. Candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The focus of the department is to improve the effectiveness of other people within the company while maintaining overall material costs.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive purchase/quote requests from the field, Project Managers, or other Buyers via phone, email, or in person.
- Gather necessary information to help resolve questions on product selection, application, and pricing.
- Verify order accuracy by confirming with order acknowledgements from vendors.
- Enter necessary information for complete and accurate Purchase Orders.
- Proactively follow orders for expediting and delivery information, and communicate with all parties.
- Work with vendors, inside personnel, and field personnel to return material and issue credit memos.
- Resolve any issues with deliveries, returns, and invoices.
- Maintain product knowledge through available vendor training and direct interaction with field personnel.
- Other tasks/responsibilities as directed by Procurement Manager. SKILLS
- Good communication skills are a must, including status of orders with the field, coordinating with trucking, working with other purchasing personnel, asking clarifying questions to project managers/estimators, and communicating details to vendors.
- Proficient computer skills including with Microsoft Office systems - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- The ability to prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems to achieve those goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Two or more years of experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical commodities and materials is preferred.
