Company Information MIS is a large-scale structural steel and heavy plate fabricator with the ability to apply sophisticated paint and fireproofing coatings. All manufacturing is completed in the US and is sourced out of three production facilities
  • Schofield, WI, Camanche, Iowa, Springfield, MO.
and Osceola, AR MIS is made up of approximately 580 nonunion employees. MIS is a family business that was founded in 1962 by Roger H. Hinner. The company has grown and prospered over the years, serving the nation's structural steel needs for companies such as Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Volvo, and ThyssenKrupp. The company has also fabricated steel assemblies for large stadiums, arenas and structures such as Lambeau Field, Miller Park, the Resch Center, Camp Randall Stadium, Soldier Field, U.S. Bank Stadium, Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center, Orlando International Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Tyson Events Center, Kansas City Wizards Stadium, Churchill Downs, Mercedes Benz Stadium, Citizens Bank Park, Detroit Events Center, and the University of Notre Dame. Position Summary As a member of the Purchasing team, the Buyer position is responsible for selecting vendors and materials that provide the most value to MIS. This involves pricing, negotiating, comparing, and monitoring inventory. By selecting the best incoming materials, we can assure the best quality and prices for our customers. Key Responsibilities Order materials required per the project schedule. Manage inventory and resolve issues. Work with Project Managers to resolve material issues. Receive materials and record material certifications. Negotiate material contracts and pricing. Cross train with other team members for backup purposes. Be willing to do whatever it takes within company guidelines to meet department goals and deadlines. Skills, Abilities, and Experience Associates degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience. 1
  • 3 years related experience preferred.
Computer skills, particularly with purchasing or accounting software required. Experience with negotiating contracts and pricing a plus. Experience with Steel and Paint products a plus.
