Surgery Scheduler Responsibilities:
Schedule patient surgery or testing as ordered by the physician. Schedule medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot utilizing scheduling codes Enter notes/special instructions in the electronic medical record for scheduling purposes. Use clinical knowledge to ensure appointments align with diagnoses/indications by providers. Provide accurate information to patients regarding surgery preparation, arrival times, and other necessary directions. Confirm patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations. Ensure patients have necessary medical clearance and pre-surgical testing. Conduct pre-procedure phone calls and confirm appointment times with patients Assist department members as needed. Maintain and file patient charts. Answer phones, take messages, and transfer calls. Schedule appointments with other physician offices. Arrange tests and procedures with physicians and/or hospitals. Prepare patient referral forms.
