About our Department The Glendale Police Department proudly serves this dynamic community with a team of 458 sworn officers and 166 professional staff. Our agency operates across three bureaus and six divisions - Administrative Services, Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, Support Services, Gateway Patrol, and Foothills Patrol — working around the clock to keep Glendale safe. About your Impact Performs advanced-level coordination of public safety staffing and scheduling functions in support of both Special Events and Patrol Divisions. This position is responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet operational and community needs, maintaining scheduling system integrity, timekeeping, coordinating training and compliance requirements, and providing analytical and operational support to command staff. Essential Functions Coordinates public safety staffing for major City events, stadium games, and arena activities. Partners with event venues, City departments, and outside agencies to align staffing needs and logistics. Builds and updates event staffing rosters to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time. Supports contract compliance, billing accuracy, and documentation for event operations. Helps coordinate training, scheduling, and equipment for Special Events Traffic Controllers. Prepares and distributes key event materials, including NIMS forms for large-scale events. Maintains organized event records and staffing data to support reporting and auditing. Assists with timekeeping and procurement tasks and provides administrative support to the Special Operations Division. Serves as the special events scheduling systems expert, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and smooth system performance. Uses City systems to plan, schedule, and track staffing for daily operations and special events. Maintains clean, accurate records, databases, and documentation. Helps improve automated scheduling tools and workflows. Prepares and processes personnel actions for Special Events staff. Supports recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, including communication with candidates and coordination of required steps. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors Three years of progressively responsible experience providing moderately complex administrative support and management assistance, preferably for a law enforcement agency. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
Knowledge of:
Scheduling systems and workforce management principles Federal and State compensation laws especially FLSA regulations Personal computer and Microsoft software such as Word, Access and Excel City of Glendale Human Resources Policies and Procedures Glendale Police General Orders Records management and data tracking systems Customer service practices and standard office procedures Basic accounting and billing principles Ability to: Analyze staffing needs and apply established scheduling guidelines to meet operational requirements Apply established procedures and problem-solving methods in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel, the public and a variety of internal and external stakeholders Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in complex scheduling and data management tasks Display courtesy and tact in dealing with the public and other personnel Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing operational needs Establish and maintain effective working relationships with public safety employees, other city personnel, arena and stadium management, external agencies and organizations and the general public Quickly and accurately obtain pertinent information Adapt to changing operational demands and shifting priorities Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately Depending on area of assignment, operate city vehicles Special Requirements Depending on area of assignment, this position is classified as safety-sensitive which requires candidates to successfully undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment. They will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy. A post-offer physical assessment is required. The City of Glendale will incur the cost of all required testing. Depending on area of assignment, valid Arizona Driver's License. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Office setting. May require some visits to the Glendale Arena and Stadium. Depending on area of assignment, enters, exits and operates city vehicles. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on City business must possess and retain a current, valid State of Arizona class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on City business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on City business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance.
