Job Description and Requirements:
The Surgery Scheduler III is responsible for coordinating and maintaining scheduling for surgical and specialized cardiology procedures. This role works closely with physicians, clinic staff, and ancillary departments to ensure accurate and efficient scheduling, while maintaining compliance with insurance and authorization requirements. Responsibilities include managing high-volume scheduling workflows, verifying provider block time and resource availability, coordinating with multiple departments, and ensuring all procedural documentation and authorizations are complete prior to service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate scheduling for cardiology procedures, ensuring accuracy of provider block time, room availability, and required equipment
  • Maintain and update scheduling systems with accurate procedure and patient information
  • Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, and prior authorizations prior to procedures
  • Communicate scheduling updates, changes, and confirmations with patients, providers, and care teams
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinics, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless coordination of care
  • Manage rescheduling, cancellations, and urgent add-on cases in a high-volume environment
  • Track completed procedures and support reporting or special projects as assigned
  • Provide cross-coverage support for scheduling functions across teams
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff as needed
  • Maintain accuracy, organization, and efficiency in a fast-paced scheduling environment
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience
  • Experience with EPIC is required
  • Experience with surgical or procedural scheduling workflows, including block scheduling and provider coordination
  • Ability to verify insurance eligibility, referrals, and prior authorizations
  • Strong proficiency with scheduling systems, data entry, and intermediate computer skills
  • Experience coordinating with physicians, clinics, and ancillary departments
  • Ability to manage high-volume scheduling with strong attention to detail and prioritization
  • Strong communication skills for patient, provider, and staff interaction
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in cardiology or specialty procedural scheduling
  • Experience training or onboarding new staff
  • Familiarity with surgical equipment and room coordination processes
  • Experience supporting multiple providers or departments
  • Knowledge of reporting or project coordination within scheduling teams
  • 2+ years of recent experience in surgery or procedural scheduling Requirements (due at time of phone screen with recruiter):
  • Resume with last seven years of work history if applicable - all work history gaps of 90+ days must be explained
  • Upcoming requested time off for the duration of the contract
  • Interview availability for the next 7-10 days
