The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic leader in the furniture and home furnishings manufacturing industry as a Senior Production Scheduler. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the production scheduling function at a fast-paced facility in Los Angeles. You will be instrumental in optimizing schedules, streamlining shop-floor processes, and ensuring precise, data-driven delivery performance. The role offers the chance to collaborate across departments, contribute to continuous improvement, and advance operational excellence in a manufacturing environment committed to quality and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed production schedules using SAP PP and MES to meet customer demand and maximize resource utilization. Evaluate forecasts, material availability, labor requirements, and equipment capacity to create accurate, executable production plans. Lead daily scheduling meetings and collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams. Monitor shop-floor performance through MES, making proactive adjustments to schedules in response to downtime, material shortages, or shifts in priority. Release and manage production orders in SAP, ensuring accuracy of master data, BOM, and routing information. Identify production bottlenecks and constraints, recommending mitigation strategies and corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery. Report regularly to leadership on schedule adherence, production KPIs, and recovery plans for at-risk orders. Champion continuous improvement initiatives utilizing analytics from SAP and MES to drive throughput and reduce waste. Mentor junior schedulers and provide guidance on best practices and system utilization.
Must-Have Skills:
5+ years of production scheduling, demand planning, or supply chain planning experience in a manufacturing setting. Advanced proficiency with SAP PP and enterprise MES platforms. Strong understanding of material flow, shop-floor processes, capacity planning, and lead-time management. Demonstrated expertise in creating and optimizing complex production schedules. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities; skilled in interpreting numerical data and metrics. Superior communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational capability. Continuous improvement mindset with experience in lean manufacturing or process optimization.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience in furniture, automotive, aerospace, electronics, or other advanced manufacturing sectors.
APICS CPIM
certification or similar credentials. Experience with production KPI reporting, data analytics tools, and dashboard development. Proficiency with advanced MS Excel functions (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis). Knowledge of additional ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, JD Edwards, Infor, Epicor, NetSuite). Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (kaizen, Six Sigma, waste reduction). Ability to mentor and train junior team members. Strong understanding of scheduling systems and best practices.
