Full Job Description Job Summary:
Responsible for supervising dockside logistics during the loading and unloading of vessels to ensure the safety of personnel, cargo, and equipment. This role coordinates cargo transportation to and from the Port and works closely with the Harbormaster to confirm vessel berthing availability to support safe and efficient cargo transfer operations. The Dockside Expeditor also oversees dockside incident management, ensuring proper documentation, communication, and follow-up on any safety concerns. This position maintains accurate records of cargo transfers, lifts, and shipment documentation for all inbound and outbound vessel movements. The role must also be competent and willing to perform Yard Operator duties when required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise dockside logistics during vessel loading and unloading operations. Coordinate transportation of cargo to and from the Port. Communicate with the Harbormaster to confirm appropriate berthing for vessel operations. Manage dockside incident response and ensure proper documentation and follow-up. Document cargo transfers, lifts, picks, and shipment paperwork, including manifests for inbound and outbound vessel shipments. Coordinate hazardous waste transportation between offshore platforms, onshore transfer stations (OST), and disposal facilities. Ensure proper labeling and handling of hazardous materials for transportation. Deploy and maintain spill kits and safety equipment. Submit berthing applications and schedule vessel arrivals and departures with the Port of Hueneme. Perform vessel fuel soundings when required. Coordinate bulk transfers between tank trucks and vessels. Load pipe and other cargo onto vessels as required. Report radioactive material communications to the Port of Hueneme and Customs and Border Protection when applicable. Submit leaking oil reports to the Port of Hueneme when necessary. Perform Yard Operator duties when operationally required. Comply with all company safety policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
