Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dispatcher/Scheduler to coordinate transportation activities efficiently and ensure seamless logistics operations. In this vital role, you will manage dispatching freight, scheduling deliveries, and optimizing routes using advanced transportation management systems. Your proactive communication skills and analysis expertise will drive operational excellence, support supply chain objectives, and enhance customer satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of logistics coordination, ensuring timely deliveries and effective fleet management. Duties Coordinate and schedule freight shipments, pickups, and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine. Utilize GPS and GIS tools to plan optimal routes, monitor vehicle locations, and improve transportation efficiency. Communicate with drivers, carriers, warehouse teams, and clients via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Enter data accurately into logistics platforms including AS400 and transportation management software to track shipments and update statuses. Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring compliance with 3PL (third-party logistics) providers' requirements. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and supply chain enhancements. Maintain detailed logs of dispatch activities, incidents, and delivery confirmations to support operational transparency. Requirements Proven experience with dispatching in a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight operations is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of transportation planning, fleet management, and supply chain processes. Proficiency in using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine. Excellent analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS mapping tools, and other logistical information for route optimization. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and clearly. Skilled in data entry with high accuracy using systems like AS400 or equivalent enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic typing skills combined with familiarity in shipping & receiving procedures; knowledge of freight documentation is a plus.
