Medical Scheduling Coordinator Needed for busy Medical Office in Litchfield County, CT his is a contract role with an opportunity to be full-time Position Summary The Medical Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for managing patient appointment scheduling, coordinating provider calendars, and ensuring efficient patient flow within the healthcare practice. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients regarding appointments, referrals, and scheduling inquiries while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance with healthcare regulations. Key Responsibilities Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments for physicians and healthcare providers. Coordinate patient visits, procedures, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments. Verify patient demographic and insurance information prior to appointments. Manage provider schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize scheduling conflicts. Process referrals and obtain necessary authorizations as required. Answer incoming calls and respond to patient scheduling inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and office policies to patients. Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Monitor appointment cancellations and no-shows and assist with schedule optimization. Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to coordinate patient care needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational confidentiality standards. Assist with front office duties and administrative projects as assigned. Qualifications 1-3 years scheduling, reception, medical insurance knowledge Minimum of one (1) year EMR Products/Solutions Knowledge of medical records/HIPPA requirements, insurance carrier requirements, High School degree or equivalent Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook and other desktop software programs Strong communication, interpersonal relationship and patient empathy skills.
