Our physician led medical group enjoys an excellent reputation with patients and the medical community, offering primary care, urgent care and more than 30 different specialties. Job Description Responsible for booking surgeries for all GYN specialties across Hartford, Greater Manchester, and Central region. Will also support and cover other Women's Health surgical specialties as needed. Responsible for scheduling hospital-based procedures/surgeries in accordance with physician's orders and insurance requirements, ensuring all necessary paperwork and required tests needed prior to surgery are accurately completed, and clearly communicated pre- and post-surgery instructions to patients. Checks patient's benefits and authorizes all surgical CPT codes. Ensures reconciliation of all dropped charges to ensure they match authorized procedures and authorizes any different or new CPT codes within 24 hours. Responsible for maintaining and managing resources, including insurance portal access, and provides consistent documentation in EPIC to support the obtained insurance authorization. Communicates changes in payer and or federal regulatory guidelines to their manager, pharmacy staff, providers and other clinical departments, as applicable. Communicates with patient to provide pre- and post-surgery instructions, and obtains completed consent forms and required tests or preparations needed prior to surgery. Prepares and distributes surgery packets to patients. Keeps physician and clinical staff informed regarding pre-op testing and maintains updated documentation and charts available for physician review. Coordination with hospital staff for scheduling according to assigned block time and collaboration with hospital teams for inpatient case coordination and add-ons. Ensures necessary H&P, surgical clearance, blood work and other patient tests are completed. Scan all necessary clinical documents. Contacts insurance company to obtain pre-certification of surgeries based on booking sheet and documents in chart. Responsible for maintaining and obtaining all surgical authorizations. Updates surgical authorizations with changes related to booked cases. This position will support the surgical scheduling and authorizations for the GYN specialties practice (MIGs, Gender Health, Menopause, and family planning) as these services continue to grow year after year. Qualifications High school diploma Three years of experience is a healthcare setting Three years of experience in surgical scheduling, preferably with a high volume surgical practice preferred We take great care of careers.
