Job Description

At Mahaska Health, the Scheduling Specialist is responsible for maintaining effective patient appointment scheduling processes to meet patient and provider needs in the Mahaska Health Medical Group.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for daily patient scheduling. Responsible for providing customer focused, efficient and professional telephone, electronic and face-to-face scheduling. Partner with registration department to provide effective and efficient check-in/check-out processes to achieve high levels of patient satisfaction and accuracy. Maintain proactive and effective communication with all members of the Medical Group and supporting departments, communicating any concerns or issues regarding patient scheduling immediately. Courteously facilitates and handles requests, complaints and communications with staff, physicians, and patients/visitors. Exercises good judgment, discretion and diplomacy in communications. Participates in process improvement activities to achieve organizational and department goals. Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Manages auto-reminder call program.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; associates degree in business or healthcare related field preferred. Demonstrated problem solving and planning skills Ability to instruct personnel; both professional and non-professional Excellent collaboration and management skills with key internal and external stakeholders Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) at all levels of the organization Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
