Job Description

Be the anchor of our shipping desk We're looking for a calm, detail‑first pro who can orchestrate documents, timelines, and dock activity with confidence. You will ensure every shipment tells a complete story—accurate paperwork, on‑time carrier coordination, and clean handoffs to customers and Sales. What success looks like Flawless documentation: Draft packing slips, Bills of Lading, and export documents; finalize BOLs and match signed copies to Sales orders; prepare certifications when Sales requests them.
Export and compliance readiness:
Coordinate export shipments and maintain NAFTA information; assist customers by reprinting, correcting, and emailing documents swiftly.
Carrier and freight control:
Call carriers as soon as freight is ready; provide accurate driving directions; verify shipping costs with freight tables; process all UPS/FedEx shipments in system.
Inbound rhythm:
Schedule inbound freight from the mills; support receiving activities and record non‑conforming material.
Floor organization and safety:
Stage daily shipments, keep paperwork paired with product, uphold Traffic/Shipping housekeeping standards—because Safety # 1. Hands‑on teamwork: Assist in loading/unloading trucks; load/unload turnstiles for the 50" slitter and CTL; package "As Is" orders; deliver scrap skids to the processor when a truckload is accumulated. Cross‑functional support: Assist the Invoicing Clerk as needed; help train new personnel. No supervisory responsibilities. Capabilities you bring HS diploma/GED plus 3+ years in a related logistics or shipping role (or an equivalent blend of education and experience). Clean driving record to operate a company truck. Proficiency with measurement tools and material‑handling equipment: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, crane, forklift, bander, band cutters, side loader. Strong reader/writer of procedures and safety rules; able to produce clear routine reports and correspondence.
Solid math:
whole numbers, fractions, decimals; rate/ratio/percent; interpret bar graphs.
Applied reasoning:
address practical problems in environments with limited standardization; follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Training:
Fork Truck Training, Crane Training, Shipping Training, Safety training, Fire Extinguisher Training.
