The Operations Coordinator - Compliance & Safety is responsible for safeguarding the integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance of all programming at Camp Wartburg. This role ensures adherence to ACA standards, abuse prevention policies, supervision requirements, transportation procedures, health regulations, and incident reporting protocols. This position does not design program curriculum or manage financial systems. Instead, it ensures that every program offered operates safely, legally, and in alignment with agency standards. The coordinator exercises independent judgment within the compliance operational lane and holds authority to intervene immediately in situations involving safety or regulatory risk. The position works collaboratively with peer Operations Coordinators to ensure unified leadership and operational excellence.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primarily responsible for monitoring the daily supervision ratios and staff compliance with such. Reviews transportation, overnight, and monitoring protocols ensuring camp and agency policies are followed and corrected always documenting any issues and with concern for safety at all times. Exercises independent discretion and judgement in completion of duties and adherence to all policies. Works evenings and weekends as needed This position requires on-site residency as a condition of employment. Housing is provided.Operations Coordinators participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour operational coverage. During assigned on-call periods, the Compliance & Safety Coordinator is responsible for: Overseeing incident response procedures Ensuring Field Injury Reports and required documentation are completed accurately Coordinating required reporting to LCFS HR Addressing supervision concerns Immediately suspending unsafe activities when necessary Authority to halt unsafe operations is immediate and does not require prior approval. Residency outside assigned on-call rotation does not automatically place the employee on duty. Prepares or reviews all incident reports in timely and accurate manner following camp and agency protocol related to such. Continuously monitors safety issues at camp by visibly and routinely checking areas where concerns may be present. Conducts internal compliance audits. Analyzes safety trends, develops corrective action plans to reduce recurring issues and recommends improvements in procedures and policies to the Camp Director as needed. Prepare documentation for inspections and accreditation reviews. Keep updated on ACA accreditation standards and anticipates required changes for the organization. Update camp policies related to ACA, agency policies and any other regulatory requirements. Tracks required staff certifications needing renewal, ensure timely and accurate documentation and ensure compliance. Hires, supervises, provides training and conducts performance management over staff and volunteers. Coordinates training with regard to compliance for attendance, prepares training curriculum for safety and abuse prevention training and maintains all training logs and documentation. Provide continuous quality and preventive improvement Positively supports peak season operations by performing any operational needs. . Adhere to all policies and procedures related to boundaries with consumers and managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers, maintain appropriate relationships with consumers, attend all required training related to such and promptly report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations by employees, volunteers, interns and consumers to the Director and the HR Department . May drive and transport youth, consumers, volunteers and other visitors to Camp as required. 9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGEAND ABILITY
Knowledge of ACA accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Strong understanding of abuse prevention and youth supervision policies. Excellent documentation, auditing, and record-keeping skills. Ability to train and guide staff in safety procedures. Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Supports and models the mission and values of Camp Wartburg.Background and Driving Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background checks, including but not limited to criminal background checks and CANTS (Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System) checks, as required by law and agency policy. Candidates must also possess a reliable vehicle and have a valid driver's license and must not have had a suspended or revoked driver's license within the past three years.EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree is preferred in recreation management, risk management, education, or related field. Experience in youth programming, supervision oversight, accreditation processes, or regulatory compliance preferred. CPR/First Aid certification required (or obtained within 60 days of hire). use the LCFS physical demands incorporating the below. The employee must be able to move throughout campgrounds, inspect facilities, and respond to incidents in various weather conditions. The position may require lifting to 50 pounds and working evenings and weekends during peak program seasons. The employee must maintain a valid driver's license and insurance and be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
