Surgery Scheduler

Surgery Scheduler, M-F 9a-5:30p, Surgery General Powers Health is hiring a Surgery Scheduler for the OR to work days at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. The Surgery Department provides care to a wide variety of patients, from the neonate to the critically ill elderly adult, inpatients and outpatients. Our comprehensive surgical care includes, but is not limited to, the following specialties: general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedic, open heart, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, urology, ENT, Retina, and robotic.

Surgery Scheduler Roles & Responsibilities:

Schedules surgical procedures as requested by surgeons or surgeon's office. Contacts appropriate sales representatives, orders necessary items required for scheduled procedures. Receives and delivers messages to physicians and other personnel. Prepares daily schedule to promote optimal surgical efficiency. Prepares daily operating room staff "on call" list. Performs other duties as assigned by Management or the Charge Nurse.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous scheduling experience preferred. Medical Terminology required. Excellent communication skills required for effective interaction with surgeons, surgeon's office staff, other hospital departments, vendors and staff. Basic computer knowledge required including Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel applications.
