Reporting to a Language Services leader, the Operations Specialist I is responsible for supporting systematic department processes through coordination of division activities and data management. This role helps maintain efficient and effective daily operations for spoken and signed language interpretation, translation support, accessibility accommodations, and the system-level qualified bilingual staff program. The Operations Specialist I manages communication through calls, emails, and web-based requests from health system staff, patients, and patient contacts requesting services across Johns Hopkins Medicine. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation for interpretation services while delivering high-quality customer service and promoting teamwork and operational efficiency. Additional responsibilities may include analyzing data and reports, supporting departmental processes, participating in project work, and serving in an on-call capacity as needed.Work Location:
On-site with travel to other Johns Hopkins locations as neededEducation:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Communications, or a related field preferred.Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
No licensure or certification required.Work Experience:
Minimum of three years of professional experience required, including at least two years in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting and/or care coordination. Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, or experience serving individuals with diverse needs, is highly preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar applications required. General knowledge of health system policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including ADA and ACA Section 1557, preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and critical thinking skills required. Experience with data analysis, database usage, medical terminology, and working in a multicultural environment is preferred. Linguistic and cultural awareness and/or ADA experience are highly preferred.Salary Range:
Minimum $18.87/visit - Maximum $31.15/visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
