Job Description

SURGICAL SCHEDULER

Role:
Prepares the most time- and resource-efficient daily Operating Room schedules based on physician requests, physician history files, hospital admissions, emergent/add-on cases, cancellations, etc. Maintains the daily operation of the posting department using department specific surgical scheduling software and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedules the procedure on-line using department specific guidelines. Prepares and reviews schedules for Operating Rooms. Continuously updates and implements requests for changes, cancellations, and reactivations to the schedules; maintains a Wait List of procedures when necessary, giving consideration to first time requested, equipment and staff constraints, and physician availability. Provides clinical coordinators in all OR areas with up-to-date and accurate future schedules, so they may anticipate patient and surgical, anesthesia, and nursing staff needs. Collaborate with the Posting Coordinator any changes that may have occurred on the schedule. Carry out the daily surgical schedule in collaboration with anesthesia, clinical leader, and other healthcare professional (as needed).
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Associate's degree preferred
Experience:
1 to 3 years of surgical scheduling experience
