What You'll Do as a Clinic Scheduler Coordinate and schedule patient appointments efficiently, considering provider availability and appointment priorities. Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and clinic staff to schedule, confirm, and update appointments. Provide patients with appointment details, instructions, and follow-up information. Maintain accurate appointment records using electronic scheduling and health record systems. Update patient information and ensure scheduling data remains current and accurate. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize clinic schedules and patient flow. Address patient inquiries related to scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations. Conduct appointment reminder calls or messages and assist with rescheduling as needed. Resolve scheduling conflicts promptly and communicate changes to all relevant parties. Support clinic operations by assisting with additional administrative tasks as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Experience Prior experience in appointment scheduling or a related administrative role preferred Licensure & Certifications Certification in healthcare administration or a related field preferred but not required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency with scheduling software and electronic health record (EHR) systems Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to positive patient experiences Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Manual dexterity to operate computers and standard office equipment Vision and hearing within normal ranges for office and patient communication tasks Work Environment Primarily office or clinic-based setting Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on patient needs or special events Frequent interaction with patients, providers, and healthcare staff About UNC Health Appalachian It's official - UNC Health Appalachian earned an "A" in the Fall 2023 Leapfrog Patient Safety Grades!
