Job Description As a Student Support Specialist, you will execute comprehensive daily support operations for students pursuing cybersecurity certifications throughout their entire educational journey. Your role encompasses processing enrollment applications, verifying educational benefits, and proactively troubleshooting student issues to ensure seamless program delivery from initial inquiry through successful completion. The VA School Certifying Official (SCO) serves as the primary point of contact between the institution, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and students using VA education benefits. The SCO is responsible for ensuring accurate certification of enrollment, maintaining compliance with VA regulations, and providing guidance to military-connected students regarding their educational benefits. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to supporting veterans, service members, and their families. Key Responsibilities Coordinate timely filing of all VA documentation ensuring all paper and computer records are adequately safeguarded and properly retained Troubleshoot student issues and assist leaders in working with the military funding sources to investigate and resolve student complaints Serve as liaison with the State Approving Agency (SAA) and Education Liaison Representatives (ELR) for all VA approval and compliance matters Maintain and reconcile the university's Approved Program List to ensure alignment between VA's Enrollment Manager system and WEAMS report Serve as a contributing member of the VA Compliance Audit response team Track student progress through certification programs and rescheduling students class dates when necessary Support internal Quality Assurance initiatives and recordkeeping practices to ensure adherence to Title 38 and the VA School Certifying Official Handbook Generate weekly enrollment reports and student satisfaction metrics for management review Work alongside the Operations team and assist where necessary with student enrollments and tracking students' progress Serve as the essential connection point between instructional, sales, and administrative functions Required Qualifications 2+ years' experience as a VA SCO, preferably in education and credentialing Demonstrated ability to manage multiple student cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines Knowledge of Enrollment Manager Experience creating clear documentation for complex processes Proficiency with database systems, spreadsheets, and multi-channel communication platforms Strong attention to detail while maintaining excellent customer service Preferred Qualifications Experience processing VA educational benefits or military tuition assistance programs Background working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and CRM platforms Knowledge of cybersecurity certification requirements and exam procedures Previous experience in technical training or professional development programs What Sets You Apart You understand the importance of student success in high-stakes certification programs You can navigate complex administrative processes while maintaining focus on student needs You're passionate about helping professionals advance their cybersecurity careers You thrive in collaborative environments where student success is the primary mission Work Environment Must be based in the United States Work at our brand new office Collaborative team culture focused on student success and operational excellence Fast-paced environment with opportunities to make direct impact on student outcomes Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary (DOE) Performance-based bonus opportunities Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision coverage Professional development opportunities Meaningful work helping professionals advance their careers Application Process Submit your resume and cover letter addressing: Your experience supporting students or customers through complex processes with the focus on SCO responsibilities Your approach to problem-solving when students face challenges What interests you most about supporting cybersecurity education We review applications on a rolling basis and look forward to learning how you can help enhance our student experience.
