Full-time Position Overview:
Our rapidly growing practice is seeking a highly organized and experienced Surgical Scheduler to play a critical role in coordinating patient care. This position is best suited for a proactive professional who excels in a high-volume environment and is confident managing constant communication with insurance companies, surgical facilities, and patients. This is a communication-heavy role requiring strong attention to detail, persistence, and the ability to manage a significant volume of insurance verification and documentation.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures across hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers Serve as the primary point of contact between patients, insurance providers, and surgical facilities Manage a high volume of phone communication daily with insurance companies, patients, and facility staff Perform detailed insurance verifications, including benefits, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket cost calculations Obtain and track referrals and prior authorizations, ensuring all requirements are completed accurately and on time Maintain and verify a heavy volume of documentation and paperwork with precision Accurately enter all scheduling details, notes, and special instructions into the EMR system Provide patients with clear, thorough guidance regarding procedure preparation, arrival times, and next steps Ensure all pre-surgical requirements are met, including medical clearances and necessary testing Conduct pre-procedure confirmation calls and coordinate all pre-operative and post-operative appointments Uphold high standards of patient care, safety, and accuracy in all interactions and processes
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of a High School Diploma and 2+ years experience in surgical scheduling. Knowledge of EMR systems. Knowledge of
CPT/ ICD10
preferred. Ability to interact with all levels of physician practice. Must be able to manage scheduling for 4-5 providers. Must be able to exhibit strong customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
