Job Description
Position Summary The Operations Assistant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day logistics and operational efficiency of a construction supply company. This position is responsible for purchasing materials, coordinating delivery routes, assisting with pricing strategies, managing inventory levels, and acting as a bridge between the sales and operations teams to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction. This position is a 6 month contract, with the possibilty of a full time roll based on the results of the training period. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Vendor Management Source and purchase construction materials, tools, and supplies Maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing when appropriate Monitor order statuses and ensure timely delivery of goods Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers Route Management & Logistics Plan and optimize delivery routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness Coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff to ensure timely deliveries Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate urgent orders or delays Track deliveries and resolve logistical issues as they arise Pricing Strategy Support Assist in developing and maintaining competitive pricing structures Monitor market trends, supplier costs, and competitor pricing Update pricing in internal systems and communicate changes to the sales team Support margin analysis and profitability tracking Sales & Operations Coordination Serve as a communication link between sales and operations teams Ensure accurate order processing and fulfillment Help prioritize orders based on customer needs and inventory availability Assist in resolving customer issues related to orders, deliveries, or product availability Inventory & Stock Management Monitor stock levels and maintain optimal inventory levels Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies Forecast demand based on sales trends and seasonal fluctuations Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and organization Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred 1-3 years of experience in operations, logistics, purchasing, or a related field (construction industry experience is a plus) Strong organizational and multitasking skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with ERP/inventory systems preferred Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Key Skills Attention to detail Time management and prioritization Negotiation and cost analysis Logistics coordination Cross-functional communication Working Conditions Office and warehouse environment Occasional need to coordinate with drivers or visit warehouse floor May require extended hours during peak construction seasons Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health benefits, paid time off, and retirement options (if applicable)
