Job Description

General Summary:
This clerical position is responsible for scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner. Responsible for obtaining, information regarding clinical records for patient appointments and updating the patient intake form. Responsible for preparing new patient packets and assuring that the content is current, up to date and professionally prepared
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
Receive patient referrals from offices and patients Schedule new patient appointments according to office protocol and initiate patient intake form Notify referring office of patient appointment Obtain all relevant patient demographic information and enter into EMR system Prepare and mail new patient packets Process incoming phone calls and ensure messages are documented in EMR system Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, mailing, typing Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
Knowledge of medical office operations, terminology, clinic policies/procedures, paperwork. Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, copier, computer Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques Ability to use a multi-line telephone system. Ability to communicate clearly in person, on the phone, and via the computer to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other customers. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively Ability to excel in an environment of constant change, problems and unexpected interruptions, where extreme pressure to deliver results is expected. Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Minimum of one-year experience in customer service setting, preferably six months receptionist/scheduling experience in health care setting and experience with office equipment. Working knowledge of Microsoft office and EMRs. Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame. Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed. Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles. Adheres to clinic's policies and procedures.
Education:
HS diploma or
