The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and hospital procedur scheduling. This role is vital in ensuring seamless scheduling, accurate documentation, and efficient communication between patients, healthcare providers, hospital staff and insurance companies. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, multitasking abilities, and proficiency with various medical software platforms to support optimal patient care delivery. Duties Schedule pulmonary procedures and diagnostic tests utilizing hospital-specific EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks to ensure timely patient care. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization processes, including Medicare and other third-party payers, to facilitate smooth procedure approvals. Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper CPT coding for billing purposes. Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to confirm appointment details and prepare necessary documentation for procedures. Manage patient communication through multi-line phone systems, providing clear instructions regarding pre-procedure preparations and post-procedure care plans. Maintain accurate medical records by filing paperwork electronically or physically while adhering to health information management standards. Assist with billing processes by collecting payments, verifying insurance information, and supporting medical billing activities related to pulmonary procedures. Experience Prior experience in a hospital or clinical setting with familiarity in medical procedure scheduling and administrative support is essential. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic and Eclinical Works or similar platforms is required. Knowledge of medical coding including CPT and ICD-10 codes related to pulmonary procedures is necessary for accurate documentation review. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times. Experience with insurance verification processes and familiarity with Medicare guidelines enhances efficiency in scheduling workflows. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
