What We're Looking For:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience:
Minimum three years experience in scheduling, patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance and/or pre-certification, or related experience in a medical environment, required. Additional Skills (required): Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience and competency in customer relation skills in a professional environment. Ability to organize and prioritize work in a stressful environment. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and is self-directed. Good problem solving skills. Basic medical terminology. Exemplary keyboarding skills and experience in patient registration systems and familiarity with personal computers. Basic knowledge of hospital performed procedures.
What You'll Do:
Scheduling & Patient Access Schedule imaging and diagnostic procedures while ensuring complete and accurate patient registration. Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information. Secure complete and authenticated physician orders prior to scheduled procedures. Coordinate scheduling to align with physician appointments, follow-up visits, or surgical procedures when applicable. Patient & Provider Communication Serve as a primary point of contact for referring physician offices and high-volume practices. Communicate appointment details, updates, and scheduling confirmations to referring offices and patients. Assist referring offices with proper protocols for ordering imaging procedures. Coordinate with technologists or radiologists for urgent or STAT scheduling requests. Insurance & Authorization Coordination Collaborate with insurance verification and pre-certification teams to obtain prior authorizations when required. Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements and authorization processes for imaging procedures. Communicate patient financial responsibility and benefits information as needed. Collaboration & Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians and clinic staff. Act as a liaison between patients, clinical teams, and referring providers to support efficient care coordination. Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure smooth scheduling and patient access processes. Quality, Safety & Process Improvement Follow departmental and organizational policies related to safety, compliance, attendance, and procedures. Demonstrate Novant Health's safety behaviors and high reliability principles. Continuously review workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced patient experience. Maintain knowledge of imaging procedures including CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and diagnostic exams.
