Job Description:
The Imaging Scheduler serves as the first point of contact for the LOA Imaging Department, and is responsible for imaging orders, scheduling patients, etc. for radiology procedures. This position performs all duties associated with the process to include but not limited to insurance authorizations, coordinating scheduling and needs for various services. This position works closely with patients, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, and other support personnel. Responsibilities Responsible for optimal workflow scheduling and coordination of radiology and/or outpatient procedures. Responsible for all aspects of imaging orders for the practice which can include CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Vascular, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, X-Ray, etc. Obtains clinical information and screens for imaging appropriateness. Will work closely with the providers, and/or their team, and all departments within the practice. Ensures completion and accuracy of provider's order in relation to requested appointment type for compliance/medical necessity and communicates discrepancies to provider and/or team. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Obtains current, complete and accurate patient insurance information to ensure full reimbursement. Schedules, reschedules, and cancels appointments; verifies orders, provides preparation information for patient, which includes PETs and/or CTs to promote optimal time management for the patient and/or the technologist. Communicates, educates and instructs patients on detailed procedural preparations, and provide complete instructions on specific aspects of their procedure and/or post procedure instructions. Answers phone calls related to scheduling or rescheduling appointments. Provides compassionate care while making outgoing scheduling calls for imaging exams. Communicates respectfully with referring offices to request updated orders, diagnosis codes, and/or lab orders if needed. Performs administrative responsibilities including scheduling answering phone calls, and rescheduling patients. Assumes day-to-day accountability for the delivery of quality services through consistent application of policies, procedures, protocols, and standards. Collaborates with other team members and anticipates their needs to ensure coordinated patient care. Utilizes and maintains patient electronic medical record. Assists with ongoing quality improvement to provide efficient, cost-effective care. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community, for our community, and by oncologists who live in our community. Qualifications/Competencies High school education or equivalent experience. Three (3) years of medical experience preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and office information. Ability to recognize, evaluate, and correct errors. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of insurance company operating procedures and requirements for billing. Knowledge of medical procedures, CPT codes and ICD-9 coding. 1 year of Oncology experience preferred.
