GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Team player with excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow a patient's procedure order throughout the prerequisite requirements until the procedure has been completed. This position will be the key point of contact for our patients, the device representatives and the patients' insurance and will develop relationships with each to ensure orders and procedures are processed timely and correctly. Must have medical terminology knowledge, exceptional customer service skills, an outgoing personality, positive attitude and ability to remain focused in a busy medical practice.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Create tracking system to monitor flow of patient orders, pre-requisite needs, authorizations and scheduling Processes orders and obtains coverage authorizations from insurance carriers Add specific diagnosis codes to procedure codes according to LCD guidelines Help to rectify denials or post procedure coding/billing issues
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer incoming phone calls Communication with patients, providers, payors and surgery centers/hospitals to coordinate all aspects of what is needed to complete the patient's referral for a procedure Filing and organization within an Electronic Medical Record
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
High School diploma required Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred
Experience:
1-2 years Healthcare scheduling Experience 1-2 years Electronic Health Record Experience. Knowledge of Athena is a plus. Proven Ability to manage and input appointments into a multi-provider scheduling system 1-2 years obtaining insurance authorizations, procedure coding, and surgery scheduling.
