Job Description
Job Description AHB Community School (http://www.ahbcs.org), a small, independent K-8 school in Central Austin, is seeking a multi-faceted team-player to join us in for the 2026-27 school year. This is a unique, school-year-based role designed for an organized, proactive professional who enjoys a mix of office administration, light facility upkeep, and direct student interaction. The ideal candidate possesses a "see a need, fill a need" mindset—someone who can pivot seamlessly from working on a spreadsheet to greet a prospective parent or help a student find a water bottle, or who will tidy the hallway on the way to monitor a lively playground. Why AHB? At AHB kids love to come to school each day, teachers love their jobs, and parents are our biggest fans. It's a small community school where everyone pitches in to advance our mission for the good of the children! A condensed weekly and yearly schedule encourages a better work-life balance for both students and staff. Key Responsibilities Greet visitors and manage the front office to ensure a welcoming and secure campus; assist administrators with record keeping, communications, organizational tasks, and special projects. Maintain tidiness of common areas, including playground, hallways, and staff lounge; perform light maintenance tasks such as sweeping the front entrance and managing trash/recycling removal between regular janitorial visits. Assist students visiting the office for minor needs such as phone calls, bandaids or early dismissals; provide active supervision during student arrival, dismissal, and recess or lunchroom periods as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of experience working in a school or similar setting Associate's degree or higher preferred Strong communication skills and a professional, warm, and supportive demeanor. Exceptional organizational and follow through skills, with ability to self manage. Flexibility to pivot around a varied task list ranging from computer work to physical facility upkeep (including ability to lift up to 30 lbs).
