Job Description
This position coordinates all planning and scheduling activities for a medium size project or for a portion of a large, complex electrical project. Prepares and issues master schedules, problem analysis reports and variance reports. The position of Project Scheduler will work collaboratively with internal and external clients to deliver intelligent solutions to ensure quality project delivery in the industrial electrical segment of our organization. The Scheduler will assist the project team in developing, tracking and updating schedules from inception to completion of the project.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The scheduler will be instrumental in integrating best practices and project deliverables while interfacing with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and contractors to monitor and update schedule and cost resources. As a Walker employee, this position will be a vital member solving complex operational and project controls issues with a maintained focus on customer satisfaction. Develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient manner possible, both timewise and cost-wise. Prepare baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams. Assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and report to the project team. Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in the developing alternate methods for corrective action. Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts, and schedule analysis on a periodic basis. Maintain a record of scope changes, trends, and variances that potentially affect the performance of the schedule. Review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule, so that intelligent decisions may be to assure completion of the project(s) on a timely basis. Assure credibility of the information contained in the schedule. Analyze schedules from Clients, Vendors, Engineering Staff, and General Contractors. Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths. Evaluate activity sequences for constructability. Identify bottlenecks and make recommendations to mitigate them. Make recommendations to manage float and sequence activities (if required) to achieve project milestone dates and interim target completion dates. Facilitate project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required by the project team. Participate in project meetings at the discretion of the project manager or lead engineer. Participate in departmental staff meetings. Comply with departmental scheduling practices and procedures. At the completion of the project, develop and record the project's historical schedule information and lessons learned for future use.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in Construction Management or Construction Science preferred Must possess 2 to 5 years of experience as a planner/scheduler on commercial electrical projects, including design and construction phases. Demonstrated expertise in the use of modern planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, techniques, and tools. Proficiency using Microsoft Project. Utility experience is a definite plus. PMI in planning/scheduling is preferred.
