Job Description

Duties include monitoring and operating the Traffic Operations Center; managing the central traffic signal system Maxview; maintaining wireless communications, traffic monitoring cameras, and central video management system; providing traffic engineering support; updating traffic count database with counts from the traffic control system; and managing citywide traffic signal operations and timings. This position will work with the signal technician staff to prioritize and monitor work to address maintenance issues; providing direction and answering questions; assisting with traffic switches, signal controller programming and activations, traffic signal updates, and traffic network equipment configuration and installation. The equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study and three years of related work experience required, in addition to knowledge of Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and Traffic Signal Timing Manual. Must have or be able to obtain within a specified timeframe, a Class A CDL license, IMSA Signal Technician II Certification, and IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification. Must have sufficient familiarity with traffic controller and signal system software, vehicle detection and network equipment configuration software, CityWorks, Synchro, ArcMap / ArcGIS, as well as various database programs. Schedule frequently includes extended shifts and evening and weekend hours. A résumé must be submitted with application.
