Full Job Description Position :

Yard Operations Assistant The Yard Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting daily yard and warehouse operations, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo, equipment, and transportation activities. This position assists with cargo inspections, load securement, inventory control, driver coordination, and yard safety while maintaining constant communication with operations personnel and office staff. Key Responsibilities Assist with loading, unloading, transloading, and handling of cargo. Support forklift operators during cargo movements and warehouse activities. Perform cargo securement, tarping, strapping, and load inspections. Assist with trailer spotting and yard traffic coordination. Monitor and control inbound and outbound cargo movements. Verify cargo counts, condition, and shipping documentation. Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory reporting. Coordinate with truck drivers regarding loading, unloading, and yard procedures. Communicate operational updates with office personnel and supervisors. Conduct routine inspections of cargo, trailers, equipment, and yard areas. Follow all company safety policies and industrial safety procedures. Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues. Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard and warehouse areas. Assist with special projects and operational requirements as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or yard operations is preferred. Knowledge of cargo handling, load securement, and industrial safety practices. Ability to work around forklifts, trailers, heavy equipment, and moving cargo. Basic computer skills for inventory and operational reporting. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and customer service skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Ability to lift and move materials as required. Comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics and transportation environment. Preferred Skills Knowledge of warehouse and yard safety procedures. Experience with inventory control and cargo inspections. Familiarity with logistics operations and transportation documentation. Experience working with truck drivers, carriers, and warehouse personnel. Forklift certification is a plus (not required).
