Job Description

Surgery Scheduler - Obstetrics & Gynecology Office Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our busy OB/GYN practice. This role is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, communicating with patients, obtaining authorizations from insurance companies, and ensuring a smooth surgical scheduling process from start to finish. The ideal candidate has prior medical office or surgical scheduling experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities Schedule gynecologic surgeries and procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and physicians Coordinate pre-operative appointments Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits Communicate surgery dates, instructions, and preparation details to patients Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system Coordinate with providers, operating rooms, anesthesia teams, and hospital staff Ensure all required labs, imaging, consents, and clearances are completed prior to surgery Answer patient questions regarding scheduling and surgical preparation Manage scheduling changes, cancellations, and urgent add-ons efficiently Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times Qualifications Previous experience in medical scheduling or surgery scheduling preferred Experience in OB/GYN, gynecology, women's health, or surgical specialties strongly preferred Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorizations Familiarity with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Strong phone etiquette and patient communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clinical staff High attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Skills Knowledge of
CPT/ICD-10
