All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California in a modern 75,000 sqft facility specially designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores. Working in accordance with the established policies and procedures, this position is responsible for the packaging, shipping of tape wound magnetic cores and receiving of packages/materials delivered to the plant.
Responsibilities:
Assembles, or responsible for the building of, containers used in the shipping of parts. Vacuum seals parts on cardboard, using knife to cut plastic around individual cardboard pieces. Dips core faces in melted Peel Coat and securing matching parts of cores to each other. When required, places parts in inventory for shipping at later date. Pulls parts from inventory for shipping, when required. Requests Shipping List from Production Control. Reads Shipping List for special shipping or packing instructions. Compares part numbers and quantity of outgoing shipments against Shipping List. Places cores in shipping containers, using cardboard, packing sheets and foam to secure parts. Securely tapes boxes close, or straps containers to pallets. Determines best shipping method, or utilizes customer's requested carrier. Places Shipping List into holder and affixes to container. Prepares carrier specific paperwork for container, or prints labels from carrier software and affixes to container. Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery, or pick-up of items. Uses forklift to place or remove containers from delivery trucks; at times utilizing truck ramp following safety procedures for use of ramp and entering trailer with forklift. Examines contents of incoming shipments and compares with packing slips to verify all items have been received; noting any discrepancies on packing slip and forwards all packing slips to Purchasing Department. Notifies or delivers incoming items to requestor or storage area. Logs in all incoming packages/goods on receiving log. Maintains part inventory and conducts physical count of inventory, when requested. Monitors equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation and reports any concerns to Shop Foreman. Orders needed supplies and materials for department by filling out a purchasing requisition and submitting to the Purchasing Department. Trains and oversees quality of work of employees working in the Shipping Department. Provides support to production and management, as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; with one or more years experience in shipping and receiving. Knowledge in Mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percents, etc. Able to work with hand and power tools used in manufacturing work; especially tools used for measurement. Principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road including the relative costs and benefits, preferred. Experience in chemical handling and safety procedures, preferred. Experience in forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment. Pass forklift certification written and practical tests. Knowledge in using calipers, scales and other precision tools used to measure. Maintain a positive working relationship with other employees. MK Magnetics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
