POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy by performing clerical, administrative, and shipping functions. This role ensures the accurate preparation of documentation, proper labeling of prescriptions, and timely packaging and shipment of medications to patients, facilities, and healthcare providers. The Pharmacy Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining workflow efficiency, upholding compliance with state and federal regulations, and delivering excellent customer service
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clerical & Administrative Support Generate, print, and organize FedEx and other carrier shipping labels for outgoing medication orders. Maintain accurate filing systems for prescriptions, shipping records, invoices, and compliance documents. Support pharmacists and technicians with clerical tasks to ensure smooth daily workflow. Shipping & Logistics Prepare, package, and ship medications in accordance with pharmacy protocols, state and federal laws, and carrier requirements. Verify contents, quantities, and packaging integrity before shipment. Ensure medications are properly labeled, temperature-controlled, and compliant with storage/transport standards. Track and confirm deliveries; promptly escalate any delays, lost packages, or exceptions to management. Maintain shipping supplies (boxes, coolers, ice packs, labels, tape) and reorder as needed to avoid delays in workflow. Inventory & Workflow Support Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical products and supplies b Conduct routine checks to ensure shipping supplies are stocked and readily available Support pharmacy technicians in organizing prescriptions for pickup, delivery, or shipment. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including shipping and storage areas. Compliance & Quality Assurance Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Adhere strictly to pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Document shipments and maintain accurate logs for compliance and auditing purposes. Assist with preparation of reports for shipping metrics, delivery performance, and operational efficiency. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework or certificate in healthcare administration or logistics preferred. Previous experience in a pharmacy, shipping/receiving, or healthcare environment strongly preferred. Strong computer skills; ability to operate pharmacy systems, shipping platforms (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip), and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and customer service orientation. Must be able to lift and move packages up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods. And any other duties assigned by management. Core Competencies Accuracy & Attention to Detail
