Job Description

Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply is one of the largest regional independently owned and operated Welding, Industrial, Specialty, and Medical Gases distributors in the Southwestern U.S., with locations in Gallup and Milan, (NM) Cortez and Durango, (CO). This document outlines the role, responsibilities, and expectations of Store Sales at Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply (FCWG) and Big Mike's Rentals (BMR) in Gallup, NM.
Role Overview:
The Sales & Receiving Associate provides excellent front counter sales support while managing receiving and inventory control processes. This role ensures customers receive prompt, knowledgeable service while maintaining accurate inventory through proper receiving, verification, and system updates. The position requires strong customer service skills, product knowledge, and attention to detail.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Required:
High School or equivalent
Preferred:
1-3 years of experience in customer service, retail sales, or warehouse/receiving operations
Preferred:
Knowledge of welding supplies, industrial gases, and safety equipment
Preferred:
Forklift Experience Preferred:
Experience with inventory systems or point of sale Key Responsibilities and other
Duties:
Greet and assist customers, answer incoming phone calls, and respond to customer inquires Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate supplies, gases, safety equipment Maintain strong product knowledge including welding machines, consumables, industrial gases, and safety products. Upsell and cross-sell products and support customer needs. Process sales orders, quotes, returns, and exchanges accurately. Maintain accuracy of daily cash drawer and follow proper cash handling procedures. Assist with merchandising, stocking shelves, and monitor inventory levels. Perform regular cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies. Unload incoming trucks using a forklift and move materials to designated storage areas. Receive products, inspect for accuracy, and compare received goods with purchase orders and packing slips and enter into received inventory system. Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve shipment issues, damages, or shortages. Track back-order items and special orders to ensure timely receipt and delivery to customers. Prepare RMA paperwork and assist with vendor returns. Safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment Clear communication and foster a cohesive and collaborative work culture Exceptional customer service by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, acknowledging all customers promptly Protects the company's value by keeping proprietary information confidential Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations Performs additional duties as assigned by management

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This role requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching (including above shoulder level), gripping, and carrying. Employees must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and manipulate objects, as well as perform keyboarding tasks. Climbing stairs is required. The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Work conditions may include exposure to dust, extreme weather conditions, and cryogenic liquids and gases. The employee must have adequate visual acuity, including near and far vision and depth perception, to safely perform job duties. Work Hours and Environment:
This is a full-time position requiring availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 am•5:00 pm, with rotational Saturdays from 8:00 am•12:00 pm. The work environment is a dynamic retail setting with continuous customer interaction.
Pay Rate:
$16.00•$18.00 Employment with Gallup Welder Supply is on an at-will basis. This means that either the employee or the Company may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable New Mexico law.
