Shipping and Receiving Associate - $18/hr - 6am-2:30pm M-F Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Associate supports day-to-day warehouse operations by accurately packing, weighing, labeling, and documenting materials for shipment or storage. This role ensures that all outgoing and incoming goods meet quality standards, follow company packaging guidelines, and move efficiently through the facility. The position operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and plays a key part in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Responsibilities Pack, weigh, and label completed items accurately for shipment or storage according to company standards. Follow all company guidelines and procedures related to packaging and shipping. Identify defective items, remove them from circulation, and dispose of them according to established processes. Use packaging materials and tools properly, including hand tools, glues, nails, padding, and related supplies. Prepare shipments using carrier systems such as FedEx and UPS, and set up trucks or messenger services as needed. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, ensuring products are handled with care. Perform general material handling tasks, including picking orders, staging materials, and moving products throughout the warehouse. Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, walkies, or sit-down forklifts when qualified and authorized. Keep complete and accurate records of all materials that move through the warehouse, including incoming and outgoing shipments. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular housekeeping of workstations and surrounding spaces. Collaborate with team members and follow direction from leadership to meet daily production and shipping goals. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while working in a manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Previous shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with unloading and loading trucks or other delivery vehicles. Experience setting up trucks and messenger services for outbound shipments. Ability to perform material handling tasks such as picking, packing, loading, and unloading. Capability to use basic packaging tools and materials, including hand tools, glues, nails, and padding. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and quality control of shipments. Ability to maintain accurate records of materials and shipments. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production processes. Reliability in working a first-shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating walkie or pallet jack equipment. Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. Familiarity with FedEx and UPS shipping systems or similar carrier platforms. Ability to adapt to learning new tasks and cross-train in multiple warehouse functions. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Prospect, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
